Terms of use

1Agreeing to these terms

These terms are an agreement between you and Orabux Limited, a company registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission, which runs the Orabux app and orabux.com ("Orabux", "we", "us"). By creating an account or using Orabux, you agree to them and to our Privacy policy. If you don't agree, please don't use Orabux.

2Who can use Orabux

You must be 18 or older to use Orabux, because it involves real money: a wallet, paid contest entries, cash prizes, transfers and gifts.

  • You must be able to make a binding agreement under the law where you live.
  • You can't use Orabux if we've closed an account of yours before, or if the law doesn't allow you to.
  • If we find out an account belongs to someone under 18, we'll close it and return any money in the wallet to the person entitled to it.

3Your account

  • Give us true information when you sign up, and keep it up to date.
  • You can sign up with your email, or with your Google or Apple account. If you use Google or Apple, their terms apply to that sign-in too.
  • Keep your password, wallet PIN and phone secure. You're responsible for everything done with your account.
  • One person, one account. Don't sell, share or transfer your account, and don't create accounts for other people.
  • If you think someone else is using your account, change your password and tell us in Help Center straight away.

4Community rules

Don't use Orabux to:

  • post spam, scams, or anything false or misleading
  • fake votes, likes, views or followers, or use bots, scripts or several accounts to win contests or earn gifts
  • harass, bully, threaten or impersonate anyone
  • post hate, violence, nudity or sexual content, or anything that puts children at risk
  • post music, videos or other content you don't have the right to use
  • launder money, move money for someone else, or hide where money came from
  • break the law, or try to break, overload, copy or get around how Orabux works

Orabux has zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. You can report content or accounts from the app, and you can block anyone. We review reports and act on them.

5Contests

  • Every contest on Orabux is run by Orabux Limited under our Official contest rules, which you can read in the app (Terms & Privacy, then Contest rules) and at orabux.com/orabux/contest-rules/. Anyone can host a contest: the host sets its theme, prize and dates, and puts the full prize pool in from their wallet when it launches. A host can invite up to 4 co-hosts to share the prize pool. Hosts and co-hosts can't enter or vote in their own contest.
  • By entering a contest you agree to the Official contest rules and the details on the contest's page. Some contests charge an entry fee, taken from your wallet when you enter.
  • Winners are decided by votes. An entry needs at least one vote to win.
  • When a contest ends, prizes are paid into the winners' wallets. Orabux keeps a fee from each prize, and a share of the entry fees in paid contests. The rest of the entry fees go to the host. The current rates are shown in the app.
  • If a contest ends with no winner, entry fees are refunded to the people who entered. Prize money that isn't won goes back to the host or hosts.
  • We can remove contests, disqualify entries, and hold or take back prizes, gifts or earnings gained by breaking these terms or a contest's rules, for example with fake votes.
  • Hosts are responsible for their contest's theme, description and content.

6Your wallet

  • Your Orabux wallet holds money you add by bank transfer, prizes you win, earnings from contests you host and gifts you cash out. It isn't a bank account and doesn't earn interest.
  • Deposits and withdrawals are handled by our licensed payment partners, Paystack and Korapay. We pay the fee for adding money.
  • Withdrawals to your bank carry the fee our payment partner charges. It's shown before you confirm. Orabux doesn't keep any of it.
  • Sending money to another Orabux wallet is free. There are limits on how much you can add, send and withdraw. The app tells you if you reach one.
  • Payments need your wallet PIN, or your fingerprint or face if you turn that on. After 5 wrong PINs, payments are locked for a while.
  • Deposits outside the limits, or that look unusual, may be held while we check them.
  • To protect you, transfers and withdrawals are paused for 24 hours after your password, email, phone number or PIN changes, or after a Google or Apple account is linked to your account.
  • We may pause or close a wallet, or refuse a payment, if we suspect fraud, if the law requires it, or to protect you or other users. If we close your account, we'll pay out any money in your wallet that isn't connected to breaking these terms or the law.
  • Tell us in Help Center straight away if you see a payment you don't recognise.

7Fees and prices

Orabux's fees, cuts and prices, including the prize fee, the share of entry fees, the gift cash-out share and the verified badge price, can change over time. The current amount is always shown in the app before you pay or confirm. If we raise one, we'll tell you in the app before the new rate applies, and it won't change anything you've already paid or entered.

8Gifts

  • You can buy gifts with wallet money and send them to contest entries, posts and comments. A gift costs exactly its price.
  • Gifts are a way to show support. They never change votes or who wins.
  • Gifts are final. Once sent, a gift can't be taken back or refunded, even if the contest is cancelled or the content is removed.
  • You can't send gifts to your own content.
  • Gifts you receive can be sent on or cashed out into your wallet. When you cash out, Orabux keeps a share of their value, shown before you confirm. Gifts you buy can't be cashed out.

9The verified badge

The verified badge is a paid monthly subscription. The price is shown in the app before you pay. You first send identity documents for review, and we can refuse or remove the badge. Payments aren't refunded, but you can turn off auto-renew at any time and keep the badge until the end of the month you paid for.

10Your content

  • You own what you post. By posting it on Orabux, you give us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store, show, copy, adapt (for example resize or make previews) and share it on Orabux and in posts that promote Orabux, for as long as it stays on Orabux.
  • You're responsible for what you post and for having the right to post it, including any music or sounds.
  • Sounds from the Orabux music library may only be used in posts and entries on Orabux.
  • If you think content on Orabux uses your work without permission, report it in the app or email [email protected], and we'll review it and remove it where needed.

11Our content and name

The Orabux name, logo, app and everything we create for it belong to Orabux Limited. Don't copy or use them without our written permission.

12Suspending or closing accounts

  • We can remove content, and limit, suspend or close accounts, that break these terms, our community rules or the law, or that put other users or Orabux at risk.
  • If your account is blocked and you think it's a mistake, tell us in Help Center. A person reviews every appeal.
  • You can delete your account at any time from Settings. First withdraw your wallet balance, end any contest you're hosting, and wait for contests you've entered to finish. See the Privacy policy for what happens to your information.

13No guarantees

We work hard to keep Orabux running smoothly, but it's provided "as is". We can't promise it will always be available, error-free or secure. As far as the law allows, we aren't responsible for indirect losses, lost profits, or what other users post or do, and our total responsibility to you is limited to the money in your Orabux wallet. Nothing in these terms takes away rights you have by law that can't be taken away.

14Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app before it takes effect. If you keep using Orabux after that, you accept the new terms.

15Law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. If you have a problem with Orabux, please tell us in Help Center first so we can try to fix it. If we can't settle it together, the Nigerian courts will decide.

Privacy policy

1Who we are

Orabux Limited, a company registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission, runs the Orabux app and orabux.com ("Orabux", "we", "us"). We are responsible for your personal information under Nigeria's Data Protection Act 2023. You can reach us in the app (Settings, then Help Center) or at [email protected].

2What we collect

  • Your account: email, username and password (stored scrambled, never readable). If you sign up with Google or Apple, we get your name, email and an account ID from them, never your Google or Apple password. If you add them, we also keep your name, phone number, date of birth, gender, bio, profession, location and profile picture.
  • What you post and do: videos, photos, sounds, captions, comments, voice notes, votes, likes, gifts, messages, follows, blocks and reports.
  • Your wallet: deposits, withdrawals, transfers, entry fees, prizes, gifts, and the bank account you withdraw to.
  • Verification: if you apply for the verified badge, the identity documents you send.
  • Help and feedback: what you send us, including screenshots, your app version and phone type.
  • Security: sign-in attempts, IP addresses and security events, so we can stop break-ins and fraud.
  • Your device: a notification token so we can send you notifications, and crash reports when the app breaks.

Location is only used when you tap to fill in your city. We keep the place name, not your exact position. If you turn on fingerprint or face unlock, your phone checks it. We never see or store your fingerprint or face.

3How we use it

  • to run your account, contests, messages, gifts and wallet
  • to pay prizes, process deposits and withdrawals, and keep accurate financial records
  • to check identity documents for the verified badge
  • to keep Orabux safe: stopping fraud, fake votes, spam, account takeovers and abuse, and reviewing reports
  • to show you posts and contests you're likely to enjoy, and suggest people to follow
  • to send you the notifications and emails you need, and answer your help requests
  • to find and fix bugs and improve Orabux
  • to meet our legal obligations

We use your information because you agreed to our Terms (to provide Orabux to you), because the law requires it (for example financial records), and for our legitimate interest in keeping Orabux safe. Where we rely on your consent, such as notifications, you can withdraw it at any time.

We don't sell your personal information, and we don't show ads.

4What other people can see

Your username, name, profile picture, bio, posts, contest entries, comments, votes on public lists, gifts you send publicly, followers and following are visible to other Orabux users and, through shared links, to anyone. Your email, phone number, date of birth, wallet, bank details, verification documents and private messages are not.

5Who we share it with

We share only what's needed with the companies that run parts of Orabux for us:

  • Paystack and Korapay: deposits, withdrawals and your bank details for payouts
  • Cloudflare: website protection, sending emails, and storing photos, videos and documents
  • Railway: the servers and database that run Orabux
  • Google and Apple: signing in with Google or Apple, and delivering notifications (with Expo)
  • Sentry: crash reports, without your name or contact details
  • OpenAI: creating AI contest posters. Only the contest details a host types are sent.
  • Africa's Talking: sending codes by text message, when that's used

Some of these companies store information outside Nigeria. When they do, we use providers that protect it to standards the law accepts.

We also share information when the law requires it, with the police or courts, or to protect our users and Orabux from harm or fraud.

6Verification documents

Identity documents are stored in private storage that only our review staff can open, through links that expire after a few minutes. They are used only to check your identity for the verified badge.

7How long we keep it

  • Your account information, while your account is open.
  • Security records, such as sign-in attempts, for up to 90 days.
  • Financial records (deposits, withdrawals, transfers, entry fees, prizes and gifts) for as long as Nigerian law requires, even after you delete your account.

8Deleting your account

You can delete your account from Settings at any time. It stops working immediately, your name, username, email, phone number, bio and photos are removed, and any Google or Apple sign-in is unlinked. Within 30 days your posts, entries, comments, messages and media are deleted. Financial records are kept, without anything that identifies you beyond what the law requires.

9Your rights

Under Nigeria's Data Protection Act you can ask us to:

  • give you a copy of your information
  • correct information that's wrong
  • delete your information
  • stop or limit how we use it, or object to it
  • send your information to you in a form you can move elsewhere

Ask in Help Center or at [email protected]. We'll reply within 30 days. You can also change most details yourself in Edit profile and Settings, turn notifications off in your phone's settings, and block anyone. If you're unhappy with how we handle your information, you can complain to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission.

10Keeping it safe

Passwords are scrambled, connections are encrypted, verification documents are kept in private storage, and payments need your PIN or fingerprint or face. We watch for break-in attempts, lock accounts after repeated wrong passwords or PINs, and pause withdrawals after security changes. No system is perfect: keep your password and PIN to yourself, and tell us straight away if you think your account has been used by someone else.

11Age

Orabux is only for people aged 18 and over. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If we find an account belongs to someone under 18, we close it and delete their information, except financial records the law requires us to keep. A parent who thinks this has happened can tell us at [email protected].

12Changes to this policy

We may update this policy. When we make an important change, we'll tell you in the app. The date at the top shows when it last changed.
